A legend stans a legend

Evangeline Lily, star of the upcoming Marvel flick ‘Ant Man & the Wasp’, gushed on a latest press interview about her admiration for the 101-year-old tattoo artist, Apo Whang-Od.

‘She is a woman who seemed to embody and imbue strength and power and I felt like she deserved representation. I wanted to share the image because she inspired me and I hoped it would inspire other people.’

The Hollywood actress was referring to the time when she featured Apo Whang-Od on her Instagram with the hashtags ‘Beauty, Age, Power.’

Apo Whang-Od is known for her traditional method of tattooing through hand tapping. The Filipina icon is considered to be a national treasure, as she is one of the longest-living advocates of Filipino tradition and culture.

It’s been around 20 years since the ‘Lost’ actress was in the Philippines. Evangeline was amusingly shocked to see Puerto Prinsesa with fully-fledged resorts, as it was just a ‘small island composed of a few huts’ the last time she was in the country.

Ant Man & The Wasp is the 20th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly and Michael Douglas.
