What was supposed to be a feel-good story has captured the pvblic’s attention - in a bad way.
Twitter user @Ah_amazing shared an incident re: one of his less privileged students who found a way to deliver her ‘Powerpoint’ presentation - despite not owning a laptop - by printing the entire report on multiple sheets of paper.
Teacher: Ready your report tomorrow, huh? Powerpoint.
Student: Yes, sir. Pero wala po akong laptop, sir.
T: Please find a way.
Next morning… Salute to this girl. I love you. 😇 pic.twitter.com/rKKTCGBoqQ

The prof went to further commend the student for her effort, as she apparently achieved the feat while being a ‘working student who needs to work 6 hours a day before going to class.’
She is a working student who needs to work 6 hours a day before going to class. I understand if she was not able to transfer her visual aids to a more appropriate paper for she has no time at all. Yet she delivered perfectly everything in her report, detail by detail.

While the entire story seemed to be set up to serve as an inspiration for others, people didn’t exactly see it that way.
if you just lent her your laptop, she wouldn’t have spent so much printing those slides jusko tapos ginamit mo pa siya for social media brownie points 🙄 https://t.co/PVNIFlM2CD

Retweeting this hoping na makakaabot siya sa taong blessed enough para makakapag-bigay ng laptop because she deserves it. As to the teacher, you know the situation of your student, sana nag adjust ka rin. https://t.co/IlR1ZlkZJh

Altho some saw the issue at a different light
sinabihan niya ba yung student na gawin yan? he just told her na please find a way.. and working student or not, that's the reality kung nag-aaral ka sa college. mapapagastos ka talaga and hindi idea ng professor na gawin yan and I, thank you.

It's unfair to blame the teacher because 1) The intention was good w/c is to develop the student's resourcefulness, 2) He only said, "Please find a way", no particular request of how it should be done, 3) He did not force the student to do what she did. (1/2)

The point is, a problem was presented & the student chose that path. If the teacher did not offered his laptop then she could've borrowed from someone else. (2/2)

For his part, the prof seemed to echo his defenders’ sentiments
Sorry. I want my students kase not to depend on me always. Sana andito ka para may mahiraman sya. 😔

Again, it's STUDENTS; I'm speaking in general. If I am doing it to others, I will do it to all. My action leads her to find her ways, and everyone appreciates it. What is your problem about it? Why can't you only appreciate? Hay naku. 🤔🙄

This is to clarify everything. A part of my instructions was, "find a way" which may come in diff forms. This could mean that she could write it in a manila paper or borrowed from someone a laptop. I did not tell her to print everything & waste money. But it was already there.
