A promising football student-athlete, Andrew Sarakinis, passed away last Sunday in a football game while playing for Colegio de San Agustin (CSA) Makati in a Rizal Football Association (RIFA) match. No definitive cause of death has been reported.

In a statement issued on Monday night, CSA confirmed the student-athlete’s death, saying that “the student was participating in a football varsity game outside the school when he collapsed” and that “he was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital, but could not be revived.”

They added, “The cause of death is still unclear at this moment, as we were informed that the hospital needs to conduct further examinations. The school is closely coordinating with the family and the hospital personnel for more details, and for any assistance which the school may provide.”

They have also vowed to support those affected by the news by making their wellness office and guidance counselors available to students who need them.

Sarkinis’ G8 Academy football family also posted, “Emiliano Velasquez celebrated a G8 goal on Sunday in your honor and shouted “That one was for you Andrew”. Carl Labrador also sported a top with a handwritten message at training last night: “RIP Andrew Sarakinis. My best defender. See you soon.”
