Zac Efron says he’s open to play ‘Troy Bolton’ again

If your fave childhood films were released during the early 2000s, then High School Musical might be one of those that make you feel nostalgic. On May 10, Zac Efron was quick to say “of course” when asked about wanting to do a reboot of the Disney movie.

Speaking with E! News, the actor said, ‘Having the opportunity in any form to go back and work with that team would be so amazing. My heart’s still there. That would be incredible. I hope it happens.’

Efron showed that he’s up for a reboot during an interview for his press tour. He’s currently promoting his movie Firestarter, an adaptation of the Stephen King novel of the same name. The book was previously adapted into a 1984 horror movie starring Drew Barrymore in the leading role.

The first HSM movie debuted in 2006 and the sequel came out a year later. The final film in the franchise High School Musical 3: Senior Year premiered in theaters in 2008. Efron starred in the three films as Troy Bolton, a high school basketball team captain who had a passion for singing.

While it sounds exciting to hear Efron express his interest, some fans were surprised since he didn’t get to virtually sing with the OG cast during the We’re All in This Together special in 2020. However, Efron did appear separately but just to introduce the song. Some reports explained that he apparently didn’t have a stable wi-fi connection at that time.
