‘Walang Rape sa Bontok’ drops for free to educate ‘hijos’

Just in case you need a reminder

Acclaimed documentary ‘Walang Rape sa Bontok’ (‘Bontok, Rapeless‘) is once again free to the pvblic.

Directed by Lester Valle, the 2014 docu follows the once rape-less society of Bontok in the Philippine Cordilleras. The film compiles archives, local government records, and the oral narratives of Bontok people to determine how a rape-less utopia ever came about.

And no, it’s not because of ‘sexy ladies‘ covering themselves up.

The film’s free streaming comes in the wake of rape culture once again becoming a divisive topic after Lucban Police station posted a status instructing girls to cover themselves up. News flash: rapists cause rape, not clothes.

‘Kayo naman mga gherlsz, wag kayo magsusuot ng pagkaikli-ikling damit at pag naman nabastos ay magsusumbong din sa amin. Isipin nyo rin!’, read the now-deleted FB post.
