Fancy yourself a comedian? You might want to tone down your clownery the next time you visit Valenzuela City – at least when it comes to the current pandemic.
Per CNN, its local government just passed an ordinance called ‘Bawal Ang COVID-19 Jokes’ which seeks to penalize anyone who will spread malicious and false info about the virus. Yup, that includes jokingly claiming that your BFF is infected.
Depending on the court’s ruling, violators could either be jailed for 30 days, slapped with a PHP 5,000 fine, or be asked to render community service such as repacking or distribution of relief goods.
