The UAAP Cheerdance Competition is back again for Season 81 and #SchoolPride is louder than ever on Twitter.

Whether it’s for the dancers’ ferocity, intense coordination, thrilling choreography, stunning costumes or even just school pride, this is definitely one sport that Filipinos talk about enthusiastically on Twitter.

Proof? There were more than 400,000 Tweets related to this year’s competition.

Part of a UAAP school or not, Tweeps around the country are united in Tweeting with the hashtag #UAAPCDC2018 as they are divided in aggressively supporting their own teams’ hashtags.

Eight universities battled their hearts out but only three of them made it to the podium finish in this year’s competition.

Last year’s defending champion, Adamson Pep Squad, landed in third place with their Lion King-inspired number. The San Marcelino Squad failed to defend the title but their routine was surely talked about on Twitter.

The second place went to the FEU Cheering Squad with their Got Funk-inspired piece. Although, there were many flaws in their routine, the level of difficulty and the entertainment value + costume made them land in the bridesmaid finish.

The most coveted title of this year’s competition went to the NU Bulldogs. This is literally a comeback from the dead as they emerged as the champs after not placing any in last year’s cheerdance.

Their flawless routine and the high level of difficulty of their stunts and pyramids wowed the crowd in the arena and on Twitterverse.

As the 2018 UAAP Cheerdance Competition ended on a high note, Twitterverse was filled with congratulatory messages, and of course, funny Tweets that made the competition even more entertaining, as usual.
