In another episode of ‘Things I Wish I Didn’t See’, a green turtle has been videoed munching on raw sewage spewing out of an underwater tube at Bulabog Beach in Boracay.
An adult female green turtle rests with its head inside a drain pipe that is actively spewing sewage off Bolabog Beach, Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan last 18 September. The seagarss medow is a feeding habitat of green turtles which is being polluted by the discharge.More on this: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=2308162519497947Video: Boracay Wilson Photography

Per Radyo Todo Aklan, the tube apparently stems from a sewage treatment plant owned by the Boracay Tubi System (BTSI), a water utility company.
But in case you’re still fussing over the turtle’s health, don’t worry: The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has already closed the pipe. They’re even investigating BTSI after its outfall tested positive for high levels of coliform – a bacteria commonly found in human and animal waste.
As for the turtle itself? We’re just happy he isn’t aware enough to know what his buffet meal was really made of.
