‘Train to Busan’ sequel ‘Peninsula’ reportedly drops summer of 2020

The ‘Train to Busan‘ hasn’t stopped yet

A sequel titled ‘Peninsula‘ following the 2016 zombie hit will reportedly drop in the summer of 2020 (Korean summers usually span from June to August, BTW).

Though it is true that we are currently aiming for a summer 2020 release, we have not made any decisions regarding specific details for premiere dates in or outside of Korea.’, said the film’s distributors.

The sequel reportedly takes place four years after ‘Train to Busan‘, and introduces new characters Jung Suk (Kang Dong-Won) and Min Jung (Lee Jung Hyun). Other new cast members include Korean actors Joon Yi and Kwon Hae Hyo.

Don’t hold your breath for a flashback scene though, as former leading man Gong Yoo won’t be part of the sequel.

Meanwhile, ‘Train to Busan’ reached worldwide acclaim in 2016 for its fresh (and Asian) take on the undead genre. It also amounted to over $83 million in the Korean box office and $45 million globally.
