Heads up, theatre geeks! ‘The Sound of Music Live!’, the small screen adaptation of the 1959 stage musical, is set to stream on YouTube for free.
Similar to the other titles in ‘The Show Must Go On‘ series, the stream will be available for 48 hours starting May 23, Saturday, at 2 AM. Previous plays included Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar, the Phantom of the Opera, and its sequel.
The series is part of an initiative by English composer Andrew Lloyd Webber to raise funds for theatre actors affected by the lockdown.
‘The Sound of Music Live!’ first aired in 2013 and stars Carrie Underwood as Maria Von Trapp, who becomes the governess of the Von Trapp family in Austria before the events of World War II. The role was famously portrayed by Julie Andrews in the 1965 film.
