There’s quite a bit of history to unpack in the new MV from SB19 and Ben&Ben.
For one, the revamped version of MAPA marks the first-ever collaboration between the two. It’s been a long time coming for fans of the OPM juggernauts, who initially teased the collab in mid-June.
As for the song itself, MAPA has always been a touching song about showing love to your parents and honoring their sacrifices. With Ben&Ben, SB19 transforms their tear-jerking single into one that feels more like a celebration.
‘We want people to have a different vibe about the song’, said SB19’s Pablo in a statement.
‘The original version is more mellow, while this version gives it a rich, well-rounded, and a happy feeling – put together in such a way that it makes listeners feel more uplifted when they hear the song.’
Another one for the history books is that the MV was shot in the Manila Metropolitan Theatre. This makes SB19 and Ben&Ben the first artists to grace the historic venue after six years of restoration.
Once the eyesore of the Lawton area, the gorgeous art deco structure has since been resurrected to its former glory and is expected to reopen in 2021. Given how beautiful MAPA‘s MV is, it’s safe to say we’re looking forward to watching gigs in the theatre once everything goes back to normal.
