PSA: the experts are experts for a reason
‘Should I react? Do you want me to react?’, Renato had said in response. King shit.
Natanuan’s words have proved to be such a danger that the Calabarzon police are hitting back, saying they’re willing to throw him in Taal itself if he continues urging citizens to return. Yikes.
‘Kasi po pag ‘yan ay may nangyari, dahil sa pagu-udyok ninyo [Natanuan], pag nakita pa kitang buhay, iaalay kita sa bulkan na ‘yan,‘ said Calabarzon police chief Brig. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr.
‘Nakikiusap po ako sa inyo bilang isang vice mayor ng lungsod o ng isang town dyan na please tumulong po kayo, wag na po kayo mag-udyok na pabalikin ‘yan.’
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) also recently warned Natanauan to either keep quiet or face the necessary sanctions.
We get it. It’s a time of panic and officials feel the need to assure residents that things will be alright, but this is never the time for flowery words or empty assurances (which most politicians are used to).
In times of unclear environmental unrest, what’s best is to follow the experts and scientists doing their jobs and informing people how to be safe – instead of, you know, yacking about it.
Pls, let’s just listen to the people doing their jobs
