‘The Rise of Skywalker’ has surpassed ‘Endgame’ in first-hour ticket sales

Going to the light side?

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ just released its official trailer today – and it’s already making history.

According to ticket-selling company Atom Tickets, the latest film in the space saga has already sold more tickets than ‘Avengers: Endgame’ in the first-hour timespan – beating the all-time highest record set by the Marvel film.

This wouldn’t be the first time that the franchises have gone head-to-head in the box-office, as ‘Infinity War‘ previously outsold ‘The Force Awakens‘ on the biggest opening weekend in history – to which Star Wars gracefully passed the torch, er, lightsaber via Twitter.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’  is the final film in the Skywalker saga, with director J.J. Abrams confirming that the film is all about the OG group of Rey, Finn, and Poe wrapping up the story together.

The movie is set to drop in theaters on December 20.
