ICYMI, a huge fire broke out in Star City in Pasay earlier this morning, leaving our souls crushed. The blaze started in the amusement park’s stuffed toys and prizes stockroom, according to the city’s fire marshal Paul Pili.
In devastating aftermath photos shared by Pasay City Command, Control, Communication and Information Center, our childhood playground can be seen visibly destroyed – from the food court to the Star Flyer rollercoaster.
The fire was declared under control at around 4:00 AM, but the damage had been done: 80% of the buildings within the compound had been wrecked by the fire.
The park plans to rebuild and open its doors by October 2020, with this Christmas season marking the first time the theme park won’t be seeing guests during the holidays in years.
It’s a devastating sight to see for most of us who spent our younger days in Star City, with young and old alike feeling the sting of seeing such a memorable childhood place burn before our eyes.
Lord, this too shall pass.
Please don't say RIP to Star City, it will come back soon. This place gave us so much memories whether as a child or as an adult.
Please do pray for the workers who will be affected by the temporary closure. It will rise soon! pic.twitter.com/duzj3vGOBB

By sunrise, we’ll be waking up to a burned #StarCity. As a kid from the province, one of my most vivid memories were field trips to Star City. Feels sad to see all these go to ashes. Hoping everyone’s safe.

It's sad to hear about what happened to Star City. I have so many memories there. Hopefully, it will be up and running again soon, and people affected will be compensated. 🙏

Christmas would now be different for other kids who would always look forward for December and would only wish to be in a theme park. Star City is the nearest and located at the center of metro. Hay. :’( https://t.co/t5MLE5sUko
