Literal vibe check
Gone are the days of scrolling through people’s playlists to check if their music taste matches yours, as new web app musictaste.space does the job for you – and some more features while they’re at it.
Per the site’s About page, the algorithm first matches your top tracks by genres. It then places more importance on niche genres matches over generic ones like Pop, before checking which top artists and tracks you have in common.
‘Even though you might not listen to the exact same songs, if you have a preference to the same genres (especially those of niches), it’s probably a stronger indicator of you two having a good musical compatibility.‘ the site reads.
To get started, users can just log into the site and give permission from their Spotify account. From there, a short ‘Spotify Wrapped‘-esque ‘Insights‘ dashboard will show your Spotify data so far – as it can even give you a playlist on your current faves.
After that, you can jump to the ‘Compatability‘ toggle on the upper right to send your URL code to friends and even some quaranflings.
Voila, you now have the power to judge each other’s music tastes from a percentage match, common artists, to longterm tracks – and see how you fare against each another after all.
Is there a 100% match anywhere though?
