Online concerts galore

Since we can’t go out and celebrate Pride together, the Smithsonian Pride Alliance is kicking off Pride Month this June with ‘Project Pride‘, an online concert and digital time capsule exhibit of LGBTQ+ culture and history from the Smithsonian’s collections.

The Smithsonian Pride Alliance covers all of the famous Smithsonian Institutions, which includes 19 museums, 21 libraries, nine research centers, and the U.S. National Zoo.

The event will be hosted by radio journalist Ari Shapiro and features indie LGBT+ artists and allies like Alex the Astronaut, Cameron Esposito, CLAUD, Girl in Red, Indigo Girls, Jake Shears, Joy Oladokun, Kat Cunning, Madame Gandhi, mxmtoon, Nakhane, Pabllo Vittar, Pet Shop Boys, Roxane Gay, SOKO, VINCINT and a lot more.

Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time that global Pride celebrations are taking it online in light of the pandemic, as PH’s very own Metro Manila Pride March has also been postponed this month until further notice.

If you’re down for some tunes and LGBT+ history, Smithsonian’s ‘Project Pride‘ will be free to the pvblic via YouTube this May 31. There’s still no word where the concert will stream, but it’ll likely be on the Smithsonian’s official channel.
