‘Sheesh’ and ‘Squid Game’ are part of the top searches in 2021

It’s that time of the year when different platforms share the rundown of what most people consumed for the year. Following Spotify Wrapped and most-used emoji list, Google has released its annual Year in Search, showing the most explored topics globally.

One of the many things that kept people company were memes, and the TikTok slang sheesh made it to the top five abroad. Other popular X that made the list include Bernie Sanders mittens, Hamster, Twisted tea, Squid Game, Red flag, and more.

Apart from all the entertaining things that made it to the search bar, Google also presented how people sought “new entrepreneurship opportunities” by looking up “how to start a business” more than “how to get a job” in 2021.

The annual overview also covered what seems to be a question you ask yourself amid the pandemic (or even before): how to maintain mental health? Google shared that many people worldwide searched for this more than ever before.

There are many other categories and topics that made it to the list, which you can view here. The tech giant also posted a yearly recap video that featured Olivia Rodrigo’s drivers license, which topped the searches for songs this year.
