Stop the sachets! Shampoo refilling stations now exist in Manila

It’s no secret that the Philippines is one of the top ocean polluters in the world, ranking third overall. This is partly due to the pvblic’s ‘sachet mentality’ and a distinct lack of effective recycling programs.

Unilever is looking to do its part in reducing plastic waste by opening the ‘All Things Hair Refillery‘ – a station where people can refill their empty shampoo and conditioner bottles at a discounted price.

The stations can be found at Alabang Town Center (Ground Floor), Trinoma (Level 2 Mezzanine) and Glorietta 3 (Ground Floor, Lower Level).

As per CNN, refilling prices are as follows. Do note that only thoroughly cleaned bottles will be accepted.

Shampoos:

Dove Straight and Silky Shampoo –  ₱0.53 per gram.

TreSemme Keratin Smooth – ₱0.58 per gram.

Sunsilk Smooth and Manageable – ₱0.46 per gram.

Conditioners

Dove Straight and Silky – ₱0.57 per gram

TreSemme Keratin Smooth – ₱0.61 per gram

Cream Silk Standout Straight – ₱0.52 per gram

Aside from refills, the stations will also sell reusable bottles priced at only PHP 10. Plus, they have collection points where you can deposit unusable bottles and sachets for upcycling.
