Pride Month is just around the corner!
And with June just a few days away, a couple of LGBTQ+ organizations in Metro Manila have shared more details about their upcoming Pride events.
After previously announcing that its March will take place on June 24, Metro Manila Pride unveiled the theme for this year’s event: “Tayo ang Kulayaan.”
For 2023, the annual event aims to champion the diversity within the community as well as how struggles that LGBTQ+ individuals face can be overcome together.
“Ang pride ay protests para sa ating mga Kulay, para sa ating Kalayaan. Ang pride ay pagdiriwang ng ating mga Kulay, at ng ating Kalayaan,” Metro Manila Pride’s statement read.

MMPride has yet to announce the venue for their upcoming march.
Meanwhile, national coalition of Filipino LGBTQIA+ organizations Pride PH will also hold a festival at the Quezon City Memorial Circle on June 24.
Dahil patuloy na nag-aalab ang laban para sa karapatan, karangalan, kalayaan, at pag-ibig.
Love, laban!

The organization is also looking for volunteers for the upcoming event.
In 2022, Metro Manila Pride gathered LGBTQ+ individuals and allies at the CCP Open Grounds in Pasay. This was the organization’s first fully in-person pride since the COVID-19 pandemic.
On the other hand, PridePH’s event last year was also held at the QC Memorial Circle.
These parades are held in celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, but it’s more than a celebration as it’s also a protest calling for equal rights for every individual regardless of their SOGIESC.
