‘Tired’ Duterte accepts Vice Presidential nomination

So much for being tired

When people say they are spent or burned out, they usually take a break. When they’re getting up there in age, they retire, content to live out the rest of their lives with their hobbies or grandchildren.

Don’t tell that to President Rodrigo Duterte, who, after years of complaining how ‘tired’ he is at being our prezzo, has now done a full 180 and accepted his party’s nomination for Vice President in the 2022 elections.

In a press release by PDP-Laban, the 76-year-old has apparently ‘agreed to make the sacrifice and heed the clamor of the people’ in taking up the endorsement.

The release also introduces PDP-Laban’s senatorial slate, including House Deputy Speaker Rodante Marcoleta, DICT Secretary Gringo Honasan, Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo, DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade, and DPWH Secretary Mark Villar.

With Duterte’s acceptance, the question now shifts to his running mate for the country’s top post. Signs point to his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara, who has been gaining steam in surveys and endorsements in recent weeks. Another possibility is Senator Bong Go, who has yet to announce any official plans.
