Aside from being the country’s top chief and Malacañang’s sensitive boi, President Rodrigo Duterte is about to add another feather to his cap: a certified commercial model.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque revealed Duterte’s new gig when he was asked on how the government could allay the general pvblic’s fear of the outdoors, given that we’re nearly half a year into the lockdown.
‘For the first time ever, President Duterte has agreed to appear in a commercial’, said Roque in Filipino.
Said commercial advocates ‘Ingat Buhay Para sa Hanapbuhay’ which aims to promote the working sector’s safe transition into the ‘new normal’. The PSA features the standard guidelines: wear a mask, wash hands regularly, and to maintain social distancing to keep families safe.

But if you were expecting Duterte’s commercial debut to mimic that of a celebrity endorser, his appearance is relegated to a snippet of one of his pvblic addresses, where he mutters ‘Mask, Hugas, Iwas’.
And here we were, expecting a walk-on-screen complete with his signature Hitl- erm, Duterte fist bump.
