Former Gossip Girl star Penn Badgley is now playing as the handsome stalker on ‘YOU’, the wildly talked thriller series which is currently streaming on Netflix.
ICYDK, ‘YOU’ is based on a novel of the same name by Caroline Kepnes. It’s the story of Joe Goldberg, a charming manager at an NYC bookstore who also happens to be a creep/serial killer, and later becomes infatuated with aspiring writer Guinevere (played by Elizabeth Lail).
In spite of Badgley’s character being a complete psychopath, fans of the show are seen romanticizing this problematic behavior on Twitter. Luckily, the actor is here to clear things up and set the record straight, telling his fans that loving and adoring his character isn’t exactly… good.
Badgley has addressed fan tweets on the series, including one who wrote, “Kidnap me pls.” His response was a short: “No thx.”
Then we got nothing left.
“Thanks 2019 but we’ll take the check plz”

Look, we know that Penn Badgley is hot, but that doesn’t make Joe’s character justifiable. There is nothing attractive about a stalker/murderer.
Romanticizing these sort of behaviors make it seem like abuse and violence is okay, which is absolutely not. We’re glad to know that Badgley is woke enough to straighten things out.
