ICYMI, Google recently revealed PH’s top searches of 2019. Apart from newcomers Jane De Leon and boy band SB19 claiming top spots in their respective categories, a certain site has risen from the ashes and piqued our curiosity the most this year.
You guessed it, OG anonymous chat service ‘Omegle‘ was dubbed as Filipinos’ Top Trending Search of 2019.
For any digital native, ‘Omegle‘ used to be a solid hush-hush part of the interwebs, but the chat site recently rose in PH popularity due to people sharing hilarious experiences to downright meeting their SOs on the site.
‘Omegle’s purpose also hasn’t changed much since its conception 10 years ago, but the idea of talking to strangers is becoming less taboo with more and more people being open to non-traditional ways of connecting.
Whether or not you’ve tried the site, its hot return says a lot about the shift of hearing ‘don’t talk to strangers online‘ c/o our parents, to going on websites with the literal motto ‘Talk to strangers online!‘.
