In an effort to gain more subscribers, Netflix will be providing India free nationwide access to the streaming platform for a whole weekend. Yes, that means the entirety of India. Sana ol.
In the event called ‘Streamfest‘ happening from December 4 to 5, Indians only need to download the Netflix app to access their free account at a capacity. The move comes after the site’s decision to halt their 30-day free trials, as this can lure potential users in a much larger scale.
‘We think that giving everyone in a country access to Netflix for free for a weekend could be a great way to expose a bunch of new people to the amazing stories that we have, said Netflix CEO Greg Peters.
‘We’re always looking at different marketing promotions to attract new members and give them a great Netflix experience.’
This serves as Netflix’s one of many new ways to overtake the growing number of competition streaming sites, such as Disney+ and Amazon Prime.
With India having a population of over 1.3B people, it likely wouldn’t hurt to get many of them hooked on free Netflix – for just two days though.
