Advertising agency McCann Worldgroup Philippines has released a statement after the Department of Tourism (DOT) terminated their contract with the company over the alleged plagiarized commercial.

McCann said in the statement that it only found out about the DOT’s decision during the press conference of toursim officials on June 15, and it has not yet receive a formal notification on the termination of its contract.

“We learned yesterday afternoon, through various news reports and the press conference held by the DOT, that it has decided to discontinue its partnership with McCann Worldgroup Philippines. At the time of this press release, however, McCann has not received a formal communication from the DOT about termination of our contract,” McCann said.

“While we regret the decision of the DOT to discontinue our partnership, we continue to believe that it is in the best interest of all parties to discuss a sensible resolution to this matter.  Nevertheless, we respect any decision made by the DOT and, while regrettable, we thank the DOT for the opportunity to serve, and we wish them continued success in their future endeavors,” it ended.

The DOT also mentioned it’ll revert to its previous slogan, “It’s more fun in the Philippines,” bidding adieu to the new slogan used in the McCann commercial, “Experience the Philippines.”
