Marnie the Shih Tzu, famous for her cute tilted head and her tongue wagging antics, recently just died at 18 – that’s more than a hundred years old in dog years!
Her owner, Shirley Braha, announced the sad news on Marnie’s Instagram page with an emotional caption.
According to Braha, Marnie died ‘painlessly & peacefully’ last Thursday after her health steadily declined in the past few days. In a light-hearted jab, Braha added that Marnie ‘enjoyed her chicken until the very end’.
ICYDK, Marnie was adopted at the age of 11 from a shelter in Connecticut. She garnered the nickname ‘Stinky‘ because of her strong smell from living in the streets for so long. She was adopted by Braha months later through the Pet Finder website, and was later transferred to New York.
Amassing thousands of followers on Instagram, Marnie was truly an inspiration for people to finally try adopting senior dogs. Braha said in her Instagram post that the act itself is ‘the most beautiful legacy Marnie could hope for to leave in this world‘.
