‘Lupin III’ creator Monkey Punch has passed away

A legend says goodbye

Anime news site Crunchyroll¬†reports that manga author, Kazuhiko Katou, popularly known as ‘Monkey Punch’, has passed away.

Born in Hokkaido Japan on May 26, 1937, the 81-year-old began his¬†writing career in 1965. He eventually became the mind behind the famed ‘Lupin III’ manga, which he created in July of 1968.

Lupin III became a pop culture phenom, having been first adapted into a TV anime in 1971 and has since spun off several sequel series, films, and TV specials.
