One of 2018’s biggest LGBTQ films is getting its own show
Per Variety, Disney is looking to adapt ‘Love, Simon’ into a TV series for its new streaming platform, Disney+. The show will feature an entirely new cast and will be based on Becky Albertalli’s book ‘Leah and the Offbeat’, which is the sequel to the film’s source material, ‘Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda’.
The flick’s OG director, Greg Berlanti, won’t be involved in the adaptation. ‘This is Us’ showrunners Elizabeth Berger and Isaac Aptaker are in talks to helm the project.
‘Love. Simon’ starred Nick Robinson as a closeted gay high schooler who falls in love with an anonymous classmate whom he met online. It garnered critical acclaim for its ‘big heart, diverse and talented cast’ and ‘funny, warm-hearted and life-affirming’ plot.
