‘Lockdown Cinema Club’ raises PHP1.7M for Coronavirus-affected film workers

Support the arts for a cause

Spearheaded by Filipino filmmakers, the ingenious ‘Lockdown Cinema Club‘ (LLC) that lets people watch almost 100 free indie short films for a cause has raised over PHP1.7M.

With the mottoWatch what you want, and give what you can’, Lockdown Cinema Club collects participating short films from all over Asia in a handy Google doc – with accompanying bank numbers that people can donate to.

The proceeds will then go to film workers such as personnel, cameramen, production assistants, and post-prod staff displaced by the Coronavirus outbreak. The club has also initiated a beneficiary tracker to find where exactly the donations will go.

As of March 25, the Lockdown Cinema Club announced that it has raised over PHP 1,789,053.60 with the aid of Directors’ Guild of the Philippines, Lupon ng Pilipinong Sinematograpo, and Ricky Lee’s Scriptwriting Workshop.
