LISTEN: People are talking about ‘Camila’

After releasing her debut single “Crying in the Club” and dominating the airwaves and streaming sites with “Havana”, Camila Cabello dropped her first album simply titled “Camila”.

Social media sites are abuzz with praises for the ex-Fifth Harmony member’s debut album, which received mostly positive reviews from music critics.

All eleven tracks in the album were written by Camila herself in collaboration with other songwriters.

She debuted her new radio-friendly single “Never Be the Same” off the album at The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. Watch her perform the song here: dubs it as 2018’s first must-listen album – “The opening track and new single “Never Be The Same,” which has already begun its ascension up the charts (currently No. 71 on Hot 100), is an urgent, lovesick earworm that capitalizes well on Cabello’s scratchy belts and breathy high notes. In the coming months, this one will almost certainly prove ubiquitous on radio — you’ll know all the words soon enough.”

Metro UK writes, “Camila – the album – doesn’t rock the boat. It’s gently experimental, but in a obvious kind of way. A little more variety might have separated all those pop songs up a little. Havana shows that when she strikes out, she wins. Camila – the person – has got one of those voices that will likely go down in history. It’s diva-esque in the best way. So she can afford to strike out more often when it comes to bending genres.”

According to Billboard, “The spectrum of emotions and sounds on Camila is commendable — and whether the album earns Cabello another massive hit, the 20-year-old can rest assured that she’s created a piece of work that’s a dynamic solo career launch pad. As a girl who got her start as one of five, Cabello has vocally, lyrically and impressively established that she was always meant to be simply Camila.”
