In my opinion, ‘Kita Kita‘ is one of the best Filipino films in recent memory. It’s emotional but not too dragging, light-hearted but not too shallow – the perfect balance that makes it one of my faves of all time.
The fact that it’s also the highest-grossing Filipino indie film in history is just the icing on the cake.
I was then understandably hyped when I learned that ‘Kita Kita’ now has an Indonesian remake titled ‘Cinta Itu Buta’ or ‘Love is Blind’!
Based on the trailer, the flick seems to be a faithful adaptation of the original, save for its new setting (from Japan to Busan, South Korea) and twist ending.
I’m not alone in fussing over this news, btw. ‘Kita Kita’ director Sigrid Bernardo also expressed excitement for the new take on Tonyo and Lea’s story, saying that it left her ‘teary-eyed’.
