As per The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix has tapped John Cho (Harold & Kumar, Star Trek, Searching) for the role of main lead Spike Spiegel in their live-action adaptation of ‘Cowboy Bebop’
Joining the Bebop crew is Mustafa Shakir (Luke Cage) as Jet Black, Daniella Pineda (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) as Faye Valentine and Alex Hassell as Vicious.
The remake will reportedly be a series consisting of 10 episodes. The director of the original anime, Shinichirō Watanabe, will serve as a consultant of the series.
Bebop is teased as a ‘jazz-inspired, genre-bending story of a ragtag crew of bounty hunters on the run from their pasts as they hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals.’
There’s no word yet on when the show will drop, as it currently has yet to start production. Given the recent flimsy track record of live-action adaptations of popular animes, let’s hope ‘Cowboy Bebop’ won’t suck.
