Is… is this a Spider-Verse?
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Jamie Foxx is reprising his role as Electro for the next chapter in the ‘Spider-Man’ film series starring Tom Holland.
The news sees Foxx’s Electro making the jump into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), after first appearing in the Andrew Garfield-led ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’, produced by Sony Pictures.
But while Marvel or any of its actors have yet to confirm the leak, fans have already speculated that this is a sign of a live-action Spider-Verse. Sony first made an animated film based on the concept back in 2018, following Miles Morales as the new Spider-Man.
Other supposed hints include J.K Simmons returning as J Jonah Jameson in Far From Home, a role that first began with the Tobey Maguire films. Sony’s Morbius also features an upcoming cameo from the MCU’s Vulture, played by Michael Keaton in Homecoming.
First it was J.K Simmons as J Jonah Jameson appearing in FAR FROM HOME. Then it was Michael Keaton's Vulture in MORBIUS. Now i's Jamie Foxx as Electro in the MCU's SPIDER-MAN 3.

In an interview with Indiewire, ‘Venom’ director Ruben Fleischer also confirmed that the plan for the franchise is to build up to a crossover between Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock and Holland’s Peter Parker.
That’s where it’s all going to lead’, said Fleischer, adding that Venom’s origin story had to be adjusted due to studio restrictions between Marvel and Sony.
‘In the comics, he evolved from Spider-Man but because of the Marvel-Sony thing we weren’t able to do that’.
And so the thing I think it’s building towards, and will be exciting to see, is when they actually do confront each other’.
