Luther and Thor star Idris Elba took to Twitter to reveal that he has contracted the coronavirus aka COVID-19. Elba is the latest celeb to step forward, following Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson last week.
The 47-year-old says he’s feeling ‘okay’ despite the diagnosis. He encouraged everyone to practice social distancing and frequent handwashing. The actor also asked for unity and solidarity during the outbreak.
‘Look we live in a divided world right now…but now is a time for solidarity. Now is a time for thinking about each other. There are so many people whose lives have been affected’.
Elba reassures everyone that he and his wife, Sabrina Dhowre, are doing well. ‘This is real… so far, we’re feeling okay. Stay positive and don’t freak out’. he says.
This morning I tested positive for Covid 19. I feel ok, I have no symptoms so far but have been isolated since I found out about my possible exposure to the virus. Stay home people and be pragmatic. I will keep you updated on how I’m doing 👊🏾👊🏾 No panic. pic.twitter.com/Lg7HVMZglZ

Earlier, Tom Hanks also gave an update on him and his wife’s condition after testing positive for COVID-19 in Australia. The actor reveals that the two are in isolation and are taking it ‘one day at a time’.
‘Remember, despite all the current events, there is no crying in baseball’, wrote Hanks, in reference to his 1992 film, ‘A League of Their Own’.

Hello folks. @ritawilson and I want to thank everyone here Down Under who are taking such good care of us. We have Covid-19 and are in isolation so we do not spread it to anyone else. There are those for whom it could lead to a very serious illness. We are taking it one-day-at-a-time. There are things we can all do to get through this by following the advice of experts and taking care of ourselves and each other, no? Remember, despite all the current events, there is no crying in baseball. Hanx
