These comics about a kind-hearted ice cube will melt your heart

Artist Peng Ven Wong created his CubeMelt series during the lowest point of his career.

At age 36, he was confused with the career path he was taking, where he described his life like it was ‘melting away like those ice cubes in my cup of soda.’

Said feelings left him to ponder about what an ice cube would do given its short lifespan if ever it was given an opportunity to live. Thus, CubeMelt was born.

Ultimately, Wong sees CubeMelt as a ‘wholehearted, can-do’ character which represents the notion that ‘life is short.’ It is a reflection of how one chooses to spend their days on Earth.

‘The spot of water he’s reduced to invokes laughter, pity, wonder and unexpected blessings to those around him.’, Wong writes.

‘We are all melting, some faster than others, but it’s not the duration but the value we bring that matters.’
