Herlene Budol answered her Q&A in Filipino and the Internet is loving it

“I am uniquely beautiful with a mission.”

Herlene Nicole Budol, who represented Angono, Rizal in the recent 58th edition of the Binibining Pilipinas, ended her Q&A with an inspiring message.

As a self-described unexpected Binibini, Nicole wowed the Smart Araneta Coliseum and the Internet with her consistent performance throughout the pageant. She bagged seven special awards that night: Manila Bulletin Reader’s Choice, Bb. Shein, Bb. Pizza Hut, Bb. Kumu, Jag Queen, Bb. Silka, and Bb. World Balance.

Before joining the pageant, Nicole was known as a host, comedian and influencer.

What made pageant fans and even past Binibini queens love her even more was how she stayed true to herself and used the Filipino language to answer the Q&A.

As the selected judge for the question, Cecilio Asuncion asked the candidate, “A beauty pageant is a space for transformation. What has been your biggest character transformation since you joined, and how can this make you deserving of a crown tonight?” Asuncion, the founder and model director of Slay Model Management in Los Angeles, graciously translated the question into Filipino for Nicole.

The beauty queen answered confidently in Filipino: “Para sa akin, isang karangalan na nakatungtong ako dito sa Binibining Pilipinas, bilang isang binibining hindi inaasahan. Para sa akin, ang sarap palang mangarap. Walang imposible. Isa po akong komedyante na laki sa hirap at ang making transpormasyon ay ang magbigay ng inspirasyon because I know for myself that I am beautiful, I know for myself that I am uniquely beautiful with a mission.

Nicole finished the night as the first runner-up, which is not an easy feat for a first-timer.
