There’s always a first time for everything. While Hayop Ka! The Nimfa Dimaano Story is the first Filipino Netflix Orginal animated film, it is also the first Filipino film to compete in the 2021 Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France, as per the Film Development Council of The Philippines.
The Annecy festival received over 2,700 entries from all over the world for this year’s competition. Hayop Ka! made it to the Feature Films – Official category, along with 11 other flicks from Asia, Europe, and North America as they compete from June 14 to 19.
Hayop Ka!, directed by Avid Liongoren, centers around the story of a perfume sales kitty named Nimfa Dimaano. She faces a love triangle dilemma as she falls head over paws for a dashing dog named Iñigo, and a mail janitor mongrel named Roger.
