Popular anime streaming site Crunchyroll announced that they’ll be dropping their own slate of ‘Crunchyroll Originals’ animated shows.
The 8 shows will be exclusively available for streaming on their site later this year. It also apparently features a diverse set of anime genres, from wholesome, fantasy, to the downright supernatural.
Crunchyroll is the very first anime streaming site to hold their own animation studio, as they’re also working with fellow studios Production I.G (Ghost in the Shell) and MAPPA (Yuri!! on Ice).
Please welcome our new slate of Crunchyroll Originals!!

The site’s new programming venture mirrors companies like Netflix and Disney no longer being reliant on other studios for original content.
With Crunchyroll already having a steady following of casual and hardcore anime fans alike, the move could be huge for the site when the shows finally roll out.
These stories range from the traditional to the innovative, blending eastern and western ideas within the spectrum of anime.’ said Crunchyroll’s Joanne Waage.
‘We hope this content will not only delight our current fans but also create a pathway for new fans to fall in love with this amazing art form.’
