It’s a new era of art
They say that every hardship brings an awakening, more so with artists. Newly-ushered Instagram account @covidartmuseum proves just that, as they’re curating the finest Coronavirus-related artwork from around the globe.
Made by three friends from Barcelona after the country implemented strict quarantine, the project has since become a lens into seeing the collective human condition amidst this pandemic.
‘Lots of our friends use art as a way to escape boredom in quarantine,’ one of the creators Irene Llorca shared in an interview with VICE.
‘And now an increasing number of people are channeling their restless feelings to their art. We thought of curating those artworks in a museum.’
As of writing, the ‘COVID Art Museum’ has over 900 posts, with more than 75,000 followers. With the pandemic ushering in new art forms that are ultimately felt worldwide, curated Instagram accounts like this could be the future of IRL gallery showings.
Welcome to the future
