Filipino developers/brother and sister-in-law Benjamin Intal (Gambit Technologies Inc. founder) and Justine Kapunan have created the open crowdsourcing site ‘Bukas Ba?‘ for users to spot businesses still open amidst the Luzon quarantine.
The duo shared that they started the project while working from home, as it was inspired by those in quarantine who are curious which establishments are still open.
To further the crowdsourcing factor of the site, users can also verify if the highlighted businesses are indeed open by logging in via Facebook and confirming it on the site itself.
Users can also add stores by clicking on the purple ‘Add Establishment’ button on the upper right, pinpointing the exact location on the map, and choosing a store category.
In the photo below, we added ‘Robinsons Supermarket’ in Dasmariñas. Easy as pie.
Though ‘Bukas Ba?’ is very much still in its initial stages – with provinces still lacking in stores and certain buildings still needing official verifications – the app is a testament to just how creative and ingenious people can become in times like this.
‘‘We would want to have as many people use and contribute to the app so it would have better data to help more communities,’ shared ‘Bukas Ba?’s creators.
