It seems that Boracay’s six-month rehab has paid off, as the popular tourist destination has reclaimed its title as the best island in Asia in Condé Nast Traveler’s Reader Choice Awards for 2019.
Joining Boracay in the top 5 list are Bali (Indonesia), Penang (Malaysia) and fellow PH islands Palawan and Cebu & Visayas islands. Around 600,000 voters responded to the travel mag’s 32nd annual survey.
‘This itty-bitty island (just under four square miles) in the Western Philippines is as close to a tropical idyll as you’ll find in Southeast Asia, with gentle coastlines and made-for-Instagram sunsets’, reads the review.
‘Fold in a thriving nightlife scene, and you have one of the top tourist spots in the region. The aptly named White Beach is Boracay’s main draw, with powdery white sand and shallow azure water ideal for swimming and snorkeling.’
Overall, PH is still a popular vacation spot among tourists, as the country was ranked 8th among Condé Nast’s top 20 fave destinations in the world. Indonesia took the top spot in this year’s survey.
