A new queen at the top

Billie Eilish just scored her first-ever No.1 single on the Billboard 100 with her song ‘bad guy’, ending Old Town Road’s historic run.

The track from Lil Nas X previously held the top spot for 19 straight weeks, breaking the record both held by ‘One Sweet Day’ (Mariah Carey/Boyz II Men) and ‘Despacito’ (Justin Bieber/ Luis Fonsi) as the longest-running No.1 single in Billboard’s 61-year history.

Lil Nas X was all praise for Eilish, tweeting ‘congratulations to billie eilish!! u deserve this!!’. Billy Ray Cyrus, who was also featured on Old Town Road, wrote ‘Congratulations @billieeilish Well deserved. Your persistence paid off. Thanks everybody. It was a hell of a ride.

At 17, Eilish also becomes the youngest artist to chart a No.1 track since Lorde topped the Hot 100 with ‘Royals’ when she was only 16.
