A golden girl, indeed
Everyone’s fave unproblematic Silent Generation-member, Betty White, is celebrating her 99th birthday today.
Born on January 17, 1922, White has been a shining staple in Hollywood TV and films, starting from her iconic 7-year portrayal of Rose Nylund in ‘Golden Girls’, ‘That 70s show’, ‘Community‘, and over 40+ other roles throughout the years.
Her special day has since received an outpouring of love in social, to which she’s responded with her own charming tongue in cheek way, telling the Associated Press that ‘Since I am turning 99, I can stay up as late as I want without asking permission!‘
Though it’s been a while since she’s been out in the pvblic spotlight, Betty once shared her secrets to living a long and happy life on the ‘The Late Show with David Letterman’ back in 2011. White’s beautifully non-conventional tips include ‘get at least eight hours of beauty sleep, nine if you’re ugly’, ‘exercise. Or don’t. What the hell do I care?’, and “never apologize. It shows weakness.‘
And for the millennials and Gen Z wanting some extra cash, she advises that ‘the best way to earn a quick buck is a slip and fall lawsuit’. And in case you forget, ‘avoid tweeting any photos of your private parts‘.
What a legend
