It’s looking great
Ever since Studio Ghibli announced their very first CG film ‘Aya and the Witch‘, fans have long speculated on what exactly a computer-animated Ghibli film will look like, since they’ve long stuck with traditional hand drawing.
Now to quench our curiosity, the Japanese animation house has finally dropped first-look teasers of their latest Cannes Festival masterpiece – and it looks damn mesmerizing.
ICYDK, the upcoming film is an adaptation of the 2011 Diana Wynne Jones novel ‘Earwig and the Witch‘, which following a young orphan girl named Earwig who gets captured, err, adopted by a terrible witch named Bella Yaga.
‘Aya and The Witch‘ is first set to air this December in Japan’s NHK channel, with an international release following soon afterward. The film sees Hayao Miyazaki overseeing the planning with his son Goro (From Up On Poppy Hill) on the director’s chair once again.
