The elderly Asian woman who went viral for beating the crap out of her racist attacker is out doing another good deed.

79-year-old Xiao Zhen Xie and her family is set to donate over $900K to the Asian-American community in an effort to ‘combat racism’. The funds were gathered from a GoFundMe page that was initially set-up by Xiao’s loved ones to aid in her recovery.

The page only had a set goal of $50,000, but the target was soon well-exceeded once the Internet got hold of the incident. According to John Chen, the victim’s grandson, Xie is a cancer survivor and diabetic who was severely affected mentally, physically, and emotionally by the attack.

Xie is now in better condition based on a recent update from Chen on the page.

‘Her eye is no longer swelled to the point of not being able to open it. She is now starting to feel optimistic again and is in better spirits. She said we must not submit to racism and we must fight to the death if necessary.’

The March 17 attack is only one of several incidents of increasing hate crimes on Asian-Americans. Xie was randomly punched by 39-year-old Steven Jenkins while waiting on the side of the street. According to witnesses, Xie managed to defend herself with a piece of wood she picked up on the ground. Video footage later showed Jenkins cuffed on a stretcher with a bloodied face.

Jenkins was also responsible for an assault on Ngoc Pham, an 83-year-old Vietnamese man, on the same day. Pham suffered a fractured nose and bruises to his neck and face, but has since been on the road to recovery.
