After decades of being a part of most Filipino childhoods, Archie and the gang are once again in Manila.
Archie Comics just premiered its first-ever Philippines exclusive cover at the SuperManila Pop Culture Convention held at the Podium in Pasig City.
The artwork, designed by artist Miguel Mercado, sees the squad striking a pose in front of Rizal Park. Torre De Manila doesn’t seem to exist in Archie’s timeline, which is an alternate reality that we can personally get behind.
Other homages to Filipino culture include Jughead eating Isaw, Betty and Veronica holding halo-halo, and Archie sporting a jeepney-inspired tee.
The cover is for the first volume of ‘Archie & Friends Travel’, a compilation of stories that see the quintet tour various parts of the world.
This isn’t the first time the Riverdale squad was in PH. They dropped by in the country three years ago in Archie’s Funhouse Spring Annual #26 for a performance at the ‘Manila Concert Grounds’.
The Archies start their world tour and head to the Philippines! Where do you want to see them go next? PREVIEW: http://bit.ly/2oxQngM
