It’s about to get weird
Per The Hollywood Reporter, our fave weird Scholastic book series ‘Animorphs‘ is set to get a film adaptation. Yeah, that series by K.A. Applegate that always caught your eye during thrift bookshop runs.
The concept is simple enough for preteen readers, as the 54-title series follows five teens who can morph into any unsuspecting animal they touch in order to fight off an alien invasion. The Avengers are shaking.
The series printed over 35 million copies under the Scholastic publishing company and ran from 1996 to 2001.
‘We couldn’t be more excited to work with Scholastic to adapt Animorphs, an iconic book series with a wildly unique combination of exciting, witty, outlandish and grounded elements that feel all too relevant for our times,’ said the upcoming movie’s director Erik Fieg.
Meanwhile, Scholastic seems to be on a roll in bringing their classic books to life as horror series Goosebumps is also set to get the Black Mirror-esque series treatment.
