Just a day before the remake of Resident Evil 2 arrives, Deadline has confirmed that a Netflix series based on the popular horror franchise is now in the works.
But while the prospect of seeing Leon Kennedy and co. getting their own proper small screen treatment is exciting, there is a little bit of a catch.
It seems that the series will be acting less as a faithful adaptation of the original survival-horror themed games and more of an expansion of the Mila Jovovich-led Resident Evil movies, which, if we’re being perfectly honest, were kinda shitty.
Constantin Film, the production and distribution company behind the film franchise, will be attached to the project.
The show will reportedly ‘explore the dark inner workings of the Umbrella Corporation and the new world order caused by the outbreak of the T-virus.’
‘The series is expected to incorporate all of Resident Evil’s signature elements, including action sequences and “easter eggs”.’
