88rising’s NIKI and singer-songwriter Phum Viphurit have come together to croon about ‘The One That Got Away’ in new track ‘Strange Land’.

NIKI, 88rising’s NIKI & Phum Viphurit croon about lost love in ‘Strange Land’

In the single, NIKI & Phum portray lovers who are lost without each other, with the former singing ‘You’re sleepin’ on the wrong side / And I’m turnin’ endlessly / Screamin’ for my lifeline, lifeline, life.’

The ‘Lover Boy’ artist responds with a similar yearning tone: ‘I can’t find myself anymore / With foreign people, you’re my temple / I want things like they were before / With you, love was simple.’

Strange Land is part of 88rising’s album Head in the Clouds II, featuring tracks by other artists from the collective such as Joji and Rich Brian.

NIKI herself has since released stripped back versions of Strange Land and her other singles in the album via her new EP NIKI Acoustic Sessions: Head In The Clouds II.

Featuring only the Indonesian artist, her guitar, and an accompanying keyboard and electric guitar, the acoustic versions gain a new emotional depth while retaining their original charm.
