ICYMI, Godzilla vs Kong is now available to stream. Without getting into spoiler territory, the film is the definition of a popcorn flick: shut your brain for 2 hours and watch two giant monsters beat the living crap out of each other. It’s good fun, especially with the jaw-dropping CGI fight scenes.
The same really can’t be said for the OG 1962 King Kong vs Godzilla. Given that it was released nearly 60 years ago, the showdown is more hilarious than epic by today’s standards. I mean, it’s essentially two people in animal suits brawling – nay hugging – it out, with the main highlight being Kong combat rolling headfirst into a mountain.
Hearty chuckles aside, we have to be a little nicer to King Kong vs Godzilla. We’re pretty sure it was just as epic to our grandparents, as its modern counterpart is to us today.
Being mean to this film would be the equivalent of my younger cousin saying Die Hard is a boring watch due to the lack of CGI. That sh*t hurts, man.
